All our babies are hand-raised and fed the highest quality hand-feeding formula available to produce happy robust, people oriented birds. Because we do a great deal of breeding, we also control the health of the "finished product". Our newly hatched babies are carefully nurtured and raised in our separate nursery. | Hand-feeding is a skill that is only acquired from a great deal of experience in feeding many species of birds. If you have heard hand-feeding is easy - - anyone can do it - - it's simply not true! Hand fed babies require their food at certain temperatures and amounts which vary with size, age, and species have successfully hand-fed hundreds and hundreds of baby birds. | As our babies grow they are introduced to our very own veggie mixture as their first solid food, then several kinds of pellets are added for a completely nutritious diet. Babies that are given only seed and water on which to grow are seriously short changed. These birds will never have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. | When our babies are sold and ready to go home, they receive their full exam as well as their culture(s). At this time cultures are not included in the sales price for keets, tiels, and lovebirds. If requested, this can be done at an additional charge. The CRYSTAL PARROT sells QUALITY. | Our hand fed babies are always on display but our bird room offers them protection from stress and disease. When you visit our store you can watch our babies enjoying relaxed play in their large bird room. Access to our bird room is limited, as many people travel from pet store to pet store, coming into contact with birds from unknown sources, and the potential is great for transmission of disease. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Many bird diseases and viruses are air born. Visitors are potential carriers of sickness going from store to store, and can also unwittingly carry sickness home to birds they already own. The health and welfare of our babies is very important to us and we provide as stress free a living condition as possible in a store setting.
Our breeding birds' diet is carefully monitored. We provide a premium selection of healthy pellets and lots of our special veggie mixture. Our special veggie mixture is available in frozen form to enable our customers to easily continue the same diet on which their new birds were raised on to improve the diet of birds they already own. |
